FROM THE BAR GEKKEIKAN'S ZIPANG SPARKLING SAKE
Sake’s been around for a long time and it’s huge fanbase is a testament to the simple pleasures of fermented rice. The old adage “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” applies to this beloved and respected drink. Then again, if we lived by that logic we wouldn’t have hybrid cars, chicken and waffles would still be eaten separately and cell phones would still be just phones.
Enter Zipang Sparkling Sake made Gekkeikan, who’ve been brewing sake since 1637. It’s a twist on traditional sake, using it’s own yeast to ferment in the bottle to create champagne-like bubbles. It’s sweet, fruity aroma and clean, crisp taste, think of it as a Reisling with effervescence, will win over adamant non-sake drinkers at first taste. It goes great with our Forbidden Rice Roll, Salmon Sashimi and Poke Salad. We’ll be serving up this unique drink starting December 3rd so come up and be one of the first to experience some sparkling sake.
